Intro to Metalsmithing: 3 days (3-4 hours each)

Thursday 1pm-5pm / Friday 1pm-5pm / Saturday 10am-1pm

In this 3 day workshop, you will learn and practice fundamental jewelry making skills such as soldering, texturing, and finishing copper and silver. On the third day, we will make a beautiful piece of jewelry to take home. This is an excellent way to get an introduction to the process or improve skills.

Day 1:

Piercing (sawing)

Intro to the torches: Acetylene/Air, Smith Little Torch, and Propane

Annealing/Pickling

Texturing

Soldering

Day 2:

More Soldering

Mandrel Forming/Doming

Drilling

Filing/Sanding/Polishing

Day 3:

Troubleshoot/Practice

Mini Projects in Silver: stone set earrings, stone set textured ring, or wide band textured ring
