Silver Band Ring with Flush Set Stones (2 Days)
Led by Signe Sterner
Friday 1pm-5pm / Saturday 9:30am-1pm
In this two day metalsmithing workshop we will learn to set round faceted stones in the classic flush set technique, then design and make a beautiful stone set ring.
The first part of day one will be learning and practicing setting several stones into copper plate. We will then plan our ring and stone placement, learning tricks for layout techniques, and begin cutting and forming the ring.
On the second day we will finish the ring band, layout the stones, and use the flush setting technique to set the stones.
This workshop is appropriate for any level of experience, from beginner to those with some metalsmithing experience wanting to add flush setting to their designs. The silver ring band can be made to varying levels of complexity and texture, depending on experience. Small class size allows for each participant to get individualized instruction.
Cost includes all supplies, including sterling silver for the ring, and 3 beautiful white sapphire stones (a sustainable white diamond alternative, more durable than cubic zirconia). A variety of additional colored stones will be available to swap for the white sapphire or purchase if desired.
