Experimental Linocut Printmaking with Theresa Wingert (2 days)

Experimental Linocut Printmaking with Theresa Wingert (2 days)

Friday 1pm-5pm / Saturday 9am-1pm

In this 2 day workshop, participants will experiment with the linocut printmaking technique. Linocut is a relief printmaking technique in which a sheet of linoleum is used for a relief surface. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with chisel tools, with the raised, uncarved areas representing a mirror image of the parts that show printed. Images created can be abstract or literal, and the technique lends itself to deep, rich ink transfer.

After carving the plates, the process of ink rolling, plate registration, and use of the etching press will be taught/reviewed.

The two days allow for creating multiple plates, experimenting with multiple colors, and making a series of 5x7 prints with the guidance of an accomplished printmaker, Theresa Wingert.

No prior experience needed. Can be taken after the February, single day workshop or on its own.

All supplies included.
