Botanical Printmaking: Cyanotypes and Monoprints
Led by Rose Cefalu and Signe Sterner
Friday 10am-2:30pm
In this four hour workshop, we will explore two different types of printmaking using fresh and pressed plants. First, Joshua Tree based artist and photographer, Rose Cefalu, will guide you through the process of cyanotype printing, using solar UV light and emulsion coated paper to create vivid images of plant composition and structure. Then we will use the intaglio press and traditional copper plates to make beautiful layered monoprints with pressed flowers, leaves, and grasses. This technique allows for creative exploration of both texture and detail, as well as shadowing and color interaction. Each participant will take home 5-6 finished prints.
All supplies included in cost. Any level of experience welcome.
